2022 Summer Student Poster Day a Success

On Thursday, August 4th, the Department of Medical Biophysics hosted the first in-person MBP Summer Student Poster day since 2019. This annual research showcase of MBP's Summer Students was held in the C. David Naylor Student Commons at the Temerty Medicine Medical Sciences building.

The MBP Summer Student program provides an opportunity for undergraduate students to gain experience in biomedical research and to learn about the graduate program offered by the department. The poster day allows program participants to gain valuable experience presenting their work to others and helps to develop the skills required to engage in vibrant scientific interchange.

Approximately 25 of our Summer Students participated in the Summer Student Poster day, showcasing the research they have engaged in over the past months while working with an MBP supervisor. All posters were evaluated by a team of departmental judges made up of MBP faculty and upper-year graduate students. Awards were granted to the top presenters.

MBP Summer Student Poster Day Awards

The Arthur Axelrad award is generously donated and presented annualy by the family of Dr. Arthur Axelrad, a former MBP researcher who was heavily involved in the MBP Summer Student Program during his time with the Department. This award is granted to the top research poster displayed at the Summer Student Poster Day and includes a $1000 prize. The recipient of the 2022 Arthur Axelrad award is Julia Nguyen, who worked under Dr. Benjamin Haibe-Kains.

Additional MBP Poster Day awards certificates were handed out by the department.
