Cardiovascular Sciences

An image of Cardiovascular Sciences in action.

Cardiovascular science studies the function, structure and diseases of the vascular system and the heart. A number of Medical Biophysics faculty use biological techniques, such as molecular biology, and physical approaches, such as imaging technologies, to obtain novel insights into cardiac disease and vascular biology.

Examples of specific research topics include:

  • Assessment of blood flow and vasculature
  • Cardiac Function
  • Human Cardiovascular Development including fetal development
  • Neurovasculature
  • Device development for intervention
