Remembering Dr. Mark Henkelman

It is with much sadness that the department announces the passing of Dr. R. Mark Henkelman, MBP Professor Emeritus on June 28, 2024.

Dr. Henkelman was a brilliant imaging scientist who had formative influence on the science of Magnetic Resonance Imaging. His roles as a scientist and leader at Princess Margaret Hospital, Sunnybrook Hospital, the Hospital for Sick Children and the Department of Medical Biophysics have had a remarkably large influence on the landscape of research in Toronto. He has had a personal and lasting influence on all of us.

Our deepest condolences go out to Mark’s family, friends and colleagues. He will be deeply missed by the Medical Biophysics community.
