The Department of Medical Biophysics is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Jesse Chao, Assistant Professor.
Dr. Chao completed his PhD at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in cell and developmental biology. He then completed a postdoctoral fellowship with Dr. Maho Niwa at the University of California, San Diego. During this time, he discovered a cell-cycle regulatory pathway for responding to endoplasmic reticulum stress. Jesse did a second postdoctoral training at UBC with Dr. Calvin Roskelley. He investigated the roles of novel genetic variants in cancer development using new imaging and computational techniques. Jesse's current research is focused on identifying pathogenic variants in tumour suppressors that contribute to cancer predisposition. In MBP, he will continue to expand his portfolio of functional variomic techniques.
Please join us in welcoming Dr. Chao to Medical Biophysics.
