Two MBP researchers have been awarded Canada Research Chairs by the Government of Canada. Dr. John Sled has been named as a new Research Chair, and Dr. Jean Chen has had her Canada Research Chair renewed.
The Canada Research Chairs Program reinforces and recognizes academic research and training excellence in Canadian postsecondary institutions. Chairholders aim to achieve research excellence in engineering and the natural sciences, health sciences, humanities, and social sciences.
Dr. Sled, a new Tier One Chair in Biomedical Imaging, is recognized for his work in high resolution MRI, CT, ultrasound, and optical techniques to study mouse development and mouse models of disease. These imaging technologies provide three- and four-dimensional views of the structure and function of an organism and have been applied to study mice modelling in diverse disorders.
Dr. Chen, a renewed Tier Two Chair in Neuroimaging of Aging, is recognized for her work in developing non-invasive neuroimaging techniques for large-scale clinical brain mapping in aging and age-related neurodegenerative diseases, which could lead to better methods of mapping the brain as well as monitoring disease progression and treatment in clinical research.
Please join the Department in congratulating Dr. Sled and Dr. Chen for these outstanding achievements.
