Dr. Tak Mak elected as member of Academia Europaea

Photo of Dr. Tak MakMBP researcher Dr. Tak Mak has been elected as a member of the Academia Europaea, a non-governmental body which promotes research and scholarship across Europe.

The Academy is comprised of 4,000 distinguished scientists and promotes scholarship and research across Europe. It is considered to be the European equivalent of the National Academy of Sciences. The Academia advises governments and European institutions on matters affecting science and academic life. It also promotes a better understanding among the public of scientific and scholarly issues that affect society and the quality of life in general.

Dr. Mak's research is concentrated on gaining fundamental knowledge of the biology of cells in normal and disease settings, focusing on the mechanisms underlying immune responses and tumorigenesis.
