Dr. Daniel De Carvalho Featured in U of T News

Recent research from MBP scientist and Associate Professor Dr. Daniel De Carvalho has been highlighted on the University of Toronto general news site. The article, titled ‘Genome Archeologists’ at U of T and UHN activate immune response against cancer’ outlines how Dr. De Carvalho and research collaborators have “identified silent and ancient DNA elements buried in our genomes that, when reactivated, can initiate a powerful immune response to kill colorectal cancer cells”.

This work was recently published in a Nature paper entitled ‘Epigenetic therapy induces transcription of inverted SINEs and ADAR1 dependency’
