Dr. Bojana Stefanovic Awarded Tier 1 Canada Research Chair
MBP researcher Dr. Bojana Stefanovic has been awarded a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Neuroimaging.
Dr. Stefanovic's studies the development of novel, quantitative magnetic resonance imaging based techniques for human brain function imaging. Her lab uses in vivo multiphoton microscopy in combination with various fluorescent markers and pharmacological agents for very detailed characterization of the neuronal and vascular response to brain stimulation in animals, employing electrophysiological recordings for a more direct assessment of the local neuronal activity. Dr. Stefanovic also develops new theoretical models to incorporate multimodality data, aimed at furthering our understanding of the biophysics of brain functioning and facilitating the translation of basic science research to various clinical applications, such as stroke, epilepsy, and Alzheimer's.
As a Canada Research Chair, Dr. Stefanovic has been recognized as a world-class scientist and scholar who is working on new health discoveries and innovations that positively impact the world.
The Department of Medical Biophysics congratulates to Dr. Stefanovic on this incredible accomplishment.
