According to their website, the 2022 SPIE G.G. Stokes award recipients ‘represent a wide range of singular achievements across light-based sciences and technologies’. The award honors ‘transformative advancements in multiple areas — including medicine, astronomy, lithography, optical metrology, optical design, and community leadership.’
Dr. Vitkin is being recognized particularly for his contributions to countless research advancements in the field of Optical Polarization and for his generous mentorship of junior scientists in the field.
