The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development making the announcement at Sunnybrook

The Government of Canada announced that will make an investment of $49 million into the Industry Consortium for Image Guided Therapy (ICIGT). This initiative is co-led by Sunnybrook Senior Commercialization Manager of Physical Sciences Raphael Ronen and Sunnybrook Research Institute Director of Physical Sciences Prof. Kullervo Hynynen. Dr. Hynynen is also a researcher in the department of Medical Biophysics.

This proposal is a targeted commercialization initiative that leverages progress in artificial intelligence (AI) facilitated data processing and outstanding research and business expertise in Image-Guided Therapy (IGT).

Many MBP researchers based at Sunnybrook will benefit from this generous investment, and it will help to advance leading-edge medical technologies by applying machine learning (ML), AI, and advanced data processing to all aspects of image guided therapy: detection, treatment planning, guidance, and therapy response.
