A team of researchers, led by MBP scientist Dr. Bo Wang, have developed a tool to help researchers track the genetic developments of COVID-19.

According to UHN, the COVID-19 Genotyping Tool (CGT) allows researchers to ‘compare virus sequences with samples obtained from around the world, providing insight on transmission events, outbreaks and mutations’ and offers an ‘online, user-friendly platform where researchers can compare the genome sequence of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in their hospital against the global picture’.

It is the hope of Dr. Wang and his team that this open-source tool will assist researchers from around the world in helping to bring about an end to the COVID-19 pandemic.
