September (Fall Session)

  • Final date for REGISTRATION (i.e. pay or defer fees) of students beginning programme in September session. After this date, must register at SGS and pay the late registration fee. Students who are not registered will be removed from courses.

Monthly service charges will incur starting December 15.

2019

January (Winter Session)

  • Registration deadline for students registering or starting thier program in the Winter (January to April) session; after this date a late registration fee will be assessed.   • Final date to submit final doctoral theses without fee payment for Winter session.

  • Fall Session grades available for viewing by students on the Student Web Service (ACORN)
Fri, January 18
  • Final date for all students to request their degrees be conferred in absentia in March
  • Final date for receipt of degree recommendations and submission of any required theses for March or June graduation for master’s students without fees being charged for the Winter session.
  • Final date to submit final doctoral theses for March Convocation in absentia
  • Students dually registered in the Fall session must be recomended for the Master's degree by this date to maintain their PhD registration.

  • For students obtaining degrees at June convocation, course work must be completed and grades submitted for full-year and Winter session courses.

  • Final date for submission of final doctoral thesis for students whose degrees are to be conferred at the June Convocation.*
  • Students dually registered in the Winter session must be recommended for the master's degree by this date to maintain their PhD registration.

* A final thesis is the corrected, approved version of thesis which is submitted to ProQuest (formerly T-Space)

Dates and Deadlines for Rotations Students

September 6 - October 16, 2018 First Rotation

December 17, 2018 Students to advise Annette or Donna of their choices for their permanent lab placement
December 21, 2018 Students will be advised of their permanent lab placement
January 7, 2019 Placement with permanent supervisor begins
January 7 - February 11, 2019 Fourth rotation for any students who have not received a permanent lab assignment
April 2020 MSc students who started in September 2018 and wish to reclassify into the PhD program must submit Form 100 to Annette or Donna by April 2020
May 2020 Reclass examination this month for students who started September 2018

REGISTRATION
You are considered officially registered as soon as you have paid tuition and incidental fees, or have requested to register without payment.

MASTER'S GRADUATING STUDENTS

  • Sept 30 - If your degree recommendation has been submitted to SGS prior to this date, you do not register or pay fees. You will graduate in November. If a thesis is required, the final thesis must be submitted to SGS by Sept 30.
  • January 20 - If your degree recommendation has been submitted to SGS prior to this date, you do not register or pay fees for the Winter session. You may choose to graduate in March (in absentia) or June. If you are not recommended by January 20, you will be required to pay fees for the second session and any service charges that have accrued. If a thesis is required, it must be submitted to SGS by January 20.
  • If you have been permitted dual registration for the Fall session in a Master’s and PhD program, you will be registered in both programs but will be required to pay fees only for the doctoral program. If you do not complete your master’s program by January 20, your PhD registration for the Fall session will be cancelled and your fee payment will be applied to your master’s registration.
  • April 21 - If your degree recommendation has been submitted to SGS prior to this date, you will graduate in June. If a thesis is required, it must be submitted to SGS by April 21.

 

DOCTORAL GRADUATING STUDENTS

  • Fees for doctoral candidates in the final year of their program are assessed on the 15th of each month and differ from completion dates for eligibility to graduate. A final thesis is the corrected, approved version of thesis which is submitted to SGS following the Final Oral Examination
  • September 15 - Final date to submit final doctoral theses to SGS to avoid fee charges for 2018-19.
  • September 30 - To graduate in November, doctoral candidates must have successfully defended their thesis at an SGS oral examination and submitted the final approved thesis to SGS by this date.
  • January 20 - To graduate in March (in absentia), doctoral candidates must have successfully defended their thesis at an SGS oral examination and submitted the final approved thesis to SGS by this date.
  • April 21 - To graduate in June, doctoral candidates must have successfully defended their thesis at an SGS oral examination and submitted the final approved thesis to SGS by this date
