Molecular and Structural Biology

  • Arrowsmith, Cheryl, at TMDT
Structural basis of molecular recognition: protein-DNA and protein-protein interactions, NMR study of protein-DNA complexes.
  • Chakrabartty, Avi, at TMDT
Research on how natural proteins have been designed to maintain complex three-dimensional structures, and then apply the natural design principles to design novel proteins that have medical applications. Currently his lab is involved in designing therapeutic proteins for Alzheimer's disease.
  • Edwards, Aled, at OCI
Gene expression, DNA replication, structural biology, and genomics.
  • Fraser, Paul E., at OTHER
Research focuses on the structural biology of proteins involved in such neurological disorders as Alzheimer's disease and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The principal goal of these investigations is to determine how structure is related to the disease biochemistry and pathology, and, ultimately, to use this information in the design of treatment strategies.
  • Gariépy, Jean, at OCI
Design of protein and peptide-based targeting vehicles for tumor localization, cancer therapy and vaccine development. Structure and function of bacterial toxins.
  • Ikura, Mitsuhiko, at TMDT
Calcium signalling and various signal transduction systems in normal and cancer cells: Structure to Function
  • Kislinger, Thomas, at OCI
    Expression Proteomics
  • Pai, Emil, at TMDT
    Structure and Function of Proteins.
  • Privé, Gil, at TMDT
Structure of membrane proteins and transcriptional regulators, x-ray crystallography, biophysical characterization of proteins and membranes, protein-protein interactions, protein-lipid interactions, effect of chromatin on gene transcription, bioinformatics.
  • Raught, Brian, at TMDT
Proteomic approaches to the study of ubiquitin and ubiquitin-like modifiers
  • Rose, David R., at TMDT
Atomic structure of macromolecules: interactions of antibodies with antigenic determinants, molecular basis of multi-drug resistance, x-ray crystallography and computer-assisted molecular modelling.
  • Rubinstein, John L., at HSC
Molecular Biophysics; Electron cryomicroscopy of macromolecular assemblies
