September (Fall Session)

  • New students starting in Fall 2016 and current students who wish to opt out fo the supplementary health and dental plans must do so before September 30.

  • Final date to submit final PhD theses to SGS to avoid fee charges for 2016-17

  • Final date for REGISTRATION (i.e. pay or defer fees) of students beginning programme in September session. After this date, must register at SGS and pay the late registration fee. Students who are not registered will be removed from courses.

January (Winter Session)

  • First date a M.Sc. Oral Exam can be scheduled in 2017
Fri January 13
  • Final date for REGISTRATION (i.e. pay or defer fees) of students beginning programme in Winter session. After this date, must register at SGS and pay late registration fee.
Mon January 16
  • Final date to submit PH.D theses to SGS without fee payment for Winter session.
Wed January 18
  • Fall Session grades available for viewing by students on the Student Web Service
Fri January 20
  • Final date for all students to request their degrees be conferred in absentia in March
  • Final date for receipt of degree recommendations and submission of any required theses for March or June graduation for master’s students without fees being charged for the Winter session.
  • Fall dual registrants must be recommended for the Master's degree by this date
Mon January 23
  • Final date to ADD Winter session courses.

  • Students registered for winter session only - pay any remaining winter session (January to April) fees to avoid incurring service charges, which begin accruing on February 15

  • Students who joined the department in Sept. 2016 and joined their lab in January 2017 should form their Supervisory Committee and submit the names of their supervisory committee members to Daphne Sears (downtown) or Donna-Marie Pow (Sunnybrook)

  • Students admitted into the Ph.D. program in January 2016 must have their Qualifying Exam by this date

Fri April 21

  • Final date for receipt of degree recommendations and submission of any required theses for master’s degrees for June Convocation. A note from student’s supervisor should be sent to the MBP office to inform that the changes have been completed. The MBP office will then send in the degree recommendation.
  • Final date for submission of final Ph.D. thesis to SGS for students whose degrees are to be conferred at June convocation.
  • Final date for degree recommendations of winter dual registrants for the master’s degree to maintain their Ph.D. registration

May

  • Registration deadline for students registering in summer (May to August) session; after this date, a late registration fee will be assessed. Minimum required payment due (unpaid fees from previous session(s) +50% of summer session (May to August) tuition fees

REGISTRATION
You are considered officially registered as soon as you have paid tuition and incidental fees, or have requested to register without payment.

MASTER'S GRADUATING STUDENTS

  • Sept 30 - If your degree recommendation has been submitted to SGS prior to this date, you do not register or pay fees. You will graduate in November. If a thesis is required, the final thesis must be submitted to SGS by Sept 30.
  • January 20 - If your degree recommendation has been submitted to SGS prior to this date, you do not register or pay fees for the Winter session. You may choose to graduate in March (in absentia) or June. If you are not recommended by January 20, you will be required to pay fees for the second session and any service charges that have accrued. If a thesis is required, it must be submitted to SGS by January 20.
  • If you have been permitted dual registration for the Fall session in a Master’s and PhD program, you will be registered in both programs but will be required to pay fees only for the doctoral program. If you do not complete your master’s program by January 20, your PhD registration for the Fall session will be cancelled and your fee payment will be applied to your master’s registration.
  • April 21 - If your degree recommendation has been submitted to SGS prior to this date, you will graduate in June. If a thesis is required, it must be submitted to SGS by April 21.

 

DOCTORAL GRADUATING STUDENTS

 

  • Fees for doctoral candidates in the final year of their program are assessed on the 15th of each month and differ from completion dates for eligibility to graduate. A final thesis is the corrected, approved version of thesis which is submitted to SGS following the Final Oral Examination
  • September 15 - Final date to submit final doctoral theses to SGS to avoid fee charges for 2016-17
  • September 30 - To graduate in November, doctoral candidates must have successfully defended their thesis at an SGS oral examination and submitted the final approved thesis to SGS by this date.
  • January 20 - To graduate in March (in absentia), doctoral candidates must have successfully defended their thesis at an SGS oral examination and submitted the final approved thesis to SGS by this date.
  • April 21 - To graduate in June, doctoral candidates must have successfully defended their thesis at an SGS oral examination and submitted the final approved thesis to SGS by this date
